G.I. Joe 2 came out and for all you spring breakers out
there that aren’t attending those bikini bashes or keg ragers, this movie is a
definite guarantee for mindless fun.

Fellow bloggers, I really do want to put the emphasis on
“mindless”. This is a blockbuster film, a movie with it’s eye on cash, not the
old school fans, or a chance at the Oscars. With that being said, why did
paramount pictures pull the movie from it’s summer release just 5 weeks before
opening day? It was reported that paramount wanted to convert the movie into
3D, the latest cash scam of the 21st century, but the real reason
lies with heartthrob Channing Tatum. Yes, that’s right the demand for this
actor is undeniable, enough to delay a whole movie from airing for reshoots, so
was it worth it? No. Originally Tatum’s character was scripted to die off a few
minutes into the movie. Now, Tatum dies a few more minutes into the movie. Why
postpone a whole movie for a specific actor and his character for a movie but
still kill him off for the franchise? I guess the money was worth it. G.I. Joe
Retaliation is reported to have brought in 40.5 M so far and is #1 at the box
office according to rottentomatoes.com.
Reboot or Sequel:
G.I. Joe Retaliation is the second live action movie and is
widely disputed as a reboot due to the fact that there is only one cast member
left from the first movie, Channing Tatum (and he still dies). So is this a
sequel? Yes! GI Joe 1 left us off with the villain at large and in control of
the white house and GI Joe 2 starts off with the villain in the white house. A
good hero is nothing without a good villain.
Personal Review:
G.I. Joe Retalition is
a movie that knows what it is, it knows all it needs is explosions, ninjas and….
more explosions. The action sequences are awesome, they contain things you’ve
probably never seen before such as a mountain top rope swinging ninja fight.
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is an exceptional actor and shines best in action and
Gi Joe 2 is not an exception for this former wrestler. He leads his cast of
nobodies to save the United States and will definitely go on to do more. G.I. Joe: Retaliation received a 28% on
rottentomatoes.com and if you’re not looking for a thought provoking, artsy
drama, this movie is for you.
What did you do for your Spring Break?
What did you do for your Spring Break?

OMG! So it is true how it was delayed because of making into 3D. I love how Channing Tatum was suppose to die earlier but dies few minutes later! I watched the movie and I loved it and I love what you wrote about it! This makes me want to watch it again just to see how long Tatum was in the beginning.
ReplyDeleteThis movie was an awesome one! I really enjoyed watching it and was so glad it wasn't a let down like other sequels of movies. I wonder if there will be a third movie to make it a Triology hmmm...
ReplyDeleteI STILL HAVE YET TO SEE THIS MOVIE. I really want to see it though. After reading your blog, I want to see it more! ><
ReplyDeleteMan I wish I read this sooner. I also agree that the plot was to light for me. I like how you dig up facts surrounding the movie that the average movie-goers wouldn't know. I can tell you know your actors very well. Nice writing style overall!
